Freedom Beach is a secluded crescent of soft white sand framed by steep jungle-covered hills on Phuket's western coast, just south of Patong. It is inaccessible by road, reached only by longtail boat from Patong Beach in about ten minutes. The relative difficulty of access keeps visitor numbers low compared to Patong, and the beach retains a calm, natural atmosphere. The water is clear and the reef just offshore offers good snorkeling. A simple beach restaurant serves fresh seafood, cold drinks, and Thai food throughout the day. Sunbeds are available for hire. The beach is at its best during the dry season from November to April, when the sea is calm and visibility is excellent. Longtail boats run throughout the day and the last return is generally around 5pm.
