Kata Noi — meaning "small Kata" — is a compact, sheltered bay immediately south of the more well-known Kata Beach, separated from it by a rocky headland. Despite its small size, it consistently ranks among Phuket's finest beaches for water clarity, sand quality, and general ambience. The bay is dominated by the Katathani Phuket Beach Resort, which occupies most of the beachfront. During the dry season the water is exceptionally clean and calm, with good conditions for swimming and snorkeling along the southern rocks. In the monsoon season, November surf makes Kata Noi one of the island's few viable surf spots. The hillside above the bay provides dramatic viewpoints. Access is by road via Kata, and the area has a relaxed, boutique feel compared to Patong or Karon.
