Koh Lon is a large, hilly island in Chalong Bay, roughly three kilometres from the southern coast of Phuket. Despite its proximity to the mainland, it retains a quiet, rural character with a small resident fishing community, rubber plantations, and forested interior trails. Several small beaches ring the island, with the bay-facing western shore being the most accessible. Longtail boats cross from Chalong Pier regularly throughout the day. The island is popular for cycling, with a network of roads and dirt paths that pass through coconut groves and past village temples. There are basic restaurants and guesthouses on the island but no large resort development. It offers a glimpse into everyday island life that contrasts sharply with Phuket's tourist areas. A good half-day or full-day trip for independent travellers.
