Nai Thon is a wide, beautiful beach in the northwest of Phuket accessed by a forest road winding through the hills between Layan and the airport. The journey itself — a narrow road through rubber trees and palms — adds to the sense of discovery. The beach is approximately 600 metres long with clean, pale sand and clear water sheltered by headlands on both sides. It is significantly quieter than the busier west coast beaches, yet well served by a handful of good restaurants and beach bars along the shore. The Andara Resort and a few boutique properties are nearby. Snorkeling is rewarding at the southern end near the rocks. During the dry season the water is calm enough for paddleboarding and kayaking. It is consistently rated among Phuket's best beaches by travellers who have made the short detour to find it.
