The observation tower at Cape Panwa sits at the southeastern tip of Phuket and offers a quiet alternative to the crowded viewpoints on the island's western side. The tower stands atop a low promontory overlooking the eastern strait, with views across to the Khai Islands, Koh Lon, and on clear days south toward Racha Island. The surrounding cape is home to several boutique hotels, the Sri Panwa resort, and the Phuket Aquarium and Marine Biological Center. The viewpoint is far less visited than Karon or Promthep, making it a peaceful spot for photography and watching the boat traffic that passes through the eastern channel. Sunrise views are particularly rewarding. The road to the cape passes through forested hills and offers glimpses of the eastern coast, which is markedly less developed than the tourist-heavy western shore.
