Khao Phra National Park

Khao Phra Thaeo National Park in the Thalang district of northern Phuket is the island's last remaining protected area of virgin tropical rainforest. The park covers approximately 23 square kilometres and is home to rare species including flying foxes, Phuket's endemic langur monkey, barking deer, and wild boar. Two of the island's most accessible waterfalls — Ton Sai and Bang Pae — are located within the park boundaries, the latter adjacent to the Gibbon Rehabilitation Project, a charity facility working to rescue and rewild gibbons confiscated from the illegal pet trade. A network of jungle trails threads through the park, suitable for guided or self-guided walks. The park is at its most lush and active during and after the rainy season. Entry is free. It is one of the few places in Phuket where genuinely wild, undisturbed nature can be experienced.
