The rocky coves near Nai Thon and the small offshore outcrop known locally as Wae Island represent some of the most secluded coastal scenery on Phuket's northwest shore. The area is characterised by granite boulders, pine trees, and a series of small, boulder-framed coves accessible only on foot or by kayak. The water between the rocks is clear and sheltered, and the reef along the underwater rock faces supports a diverse range of small marine life. These coves see very few visitors and offer a level of privacy and natural beauty that is increasingly rare on the island. Kayaks can be launched from Nai Thon Beach and paddled along the rocky coast to explore the bays at leisure. The area is most comfortable in the dry season, with the clearest water typically in January and February.
