The Thalang National Museum, located near the Heroines Monument in the Thalang district of northern Phuket, is the island's primary museum of history and culture. Operated by the Fine Arts Department, the museum presents Phuket's history across four main exhibition halls covering geological formation, prehistoric settlement, the influence of Hindu-Buddhist traditions, and the island's role in regional maritime trade. Among its most significant exhibits is a ninth-century bronze Vishnu figure discovered near the museum site, one of the finest examples of early Hindu sculpture found in southern Thailand. A separate hall covers the 1785 Burmese siege of Phuket and the role of Chan and Mook, the two sisters who rallied the islanders' defence and are celebrated at the nearby Heroines Monument. Admission is 150 Baht. Open Tuesday to Sunday.
